Tales of Argosa – Oracles!

Greetings gamer friends near and far, I hope you are well!

I cannot believe the end of August is upon us – Baal’s Balls – how did that happen!??

Let us dally no longer! First up are two Oracle tools we’ve been working on for Tales of Argosa, or for any fantasy RPG really, they’re very much system neutral.

… The Bones (the next iteration of our Yes, No, But die) and The Deck of Signs :DD

And below is the (WIP) excerpt from ToA about how you might use the Oracles:

Naturally you don’t need either of these tools to play Tales of Argosa – but I firmly believe they enhance the “Emergent Play” experience – especially if you want to play solo.

** NOV EDIT: Both Oracles are now online for free for playtesting:

As always very keen to know your thoughts, hit us up below or on the Discord forum!

HOBBS’ ARGOSA PLAYTEST

Yes it is true – everyone’s favourite GM to the Stars Jason Hobbs is running some playtests of Tales of Argosa, using an advanced draft with the fearless and incalculable Robert & Stu! Thank you very much lads, your feedback is invaluable, and best of luck in your travels!!

TALES OF ARGOSA DRAFT RELEASE IN SEPT

Speaking of the ToA advanced draft, we will be releasing the draft PDF in September for playtesting and feedback!

Everyone who has LFG Deluxe in their DTRPG library will have access to it (we’ll upload it as an additional PDF file). We’ll make an announcement when that happens, but you should also get an email notification from DTRPG (assuming you haven’t blocked their messages) 😀

This is my dodgy cover I put together for a Lulu copy I’m waiting on. The real title words, cover, etc will look very different – but I do still like it hahah. Tagline will also change no doubt. Just experimenting y’all 😉

LOW FANTASY GAMING DELUXE IS DEAL OF THE DAY ON SUNDAY!!

Breaking News!! Very serendipitously indeed I just got the email from DTRPG that LFG Deluxe is the Deal of Day on Sunday

From about 10am it’ll be $6 instead of $20 :DD

And we’re currently running LFG as a bundle with Midlands too – bargains everywhere!

Course all funds raised will go into developing ToA 🙂

FOUNDRY UPDATES

High Techpriest Dab has done it again with some LFG and Lowlife 2090 Foundry updates – an absolutely massive one for LL 2090 as you’ll see below!!

More details at Dab’s Discord including pics. MASSIVE THANK YOU TO DAB!!

Low Fantasy Gaming Update 1.11.2:

A) New option to use PERC instead of DEX for ranged attacks and damage.

B) Situational Modifier Dialog for NPC attacks and damage.

Lowlife 2090 Update 1.11.2:

1) Bug fix Fixed random chat button resizing when a dialog is opened.

2) Rests: Added short rest automation, where clicking on the “Short Rest” button in the Lifer Sheet left sidebar will auto-roll the two WILL checks and count successes. The chat will then tell you how many recoveries you can make and what they are.

3) Added long rest automation, where clicking on the “Long Rest” button will automatically increase the Lifer’s current HP by one if they are below Max, will automatically uncheck the “Fatigued” condition if it is checked, and will roll 2 WILL checks as above.

4) Armour Automaton. Added an “Equipped” checkbox to Armour items. AR is now non-editable and can only be changed through “equipping” Armour items, whose AR values will be summed if they are “equipped”.

5) GUNS: Added Ammo Tracking and Reloading automation. Single shot subtracts 1, burst subtracts 3, and full auto subtracts 10 (unless modified). If you do not have enough bullets, a message will appear in chat asking you to reload. You can also choose to reload using the Dialog to fire so that you don’t need to open the sheet and manually edit the numbers.

6) Added “Extra Bullets” input for the rule that “every 2 bullets fired above the standard 10 increases frontage by 1m.” This frontage is updated in the resulting chat message, and 10+”Extra” are subtracted from the current magazine.

7) Added Jam automation. On a fumble, the chat message will have a button for a Jam Check, which will roll and compare against your weapon’s Jam input. NOTE: For this automation to work, only enter the highest number that the weapon will Jam on (3 instead of 1-3).

8) Specialty Ammo is now rollable. You will enter in the adjusted values (e.g.: a 4 in the Jam input for caseless when a normal pistol might be a 3), and everything will be rolled and tracked as above. Also edited how Specialty Ammo shows up on the Lifer sheet for readability.

9) Spells, Abilities, and Checks: Added a “Cast Spell” button to the bottom of a Spell chat card. This automatically makes the Spell Check, drains WILL, and sends the level of success to the chat.

10) Added a “Use Ability” button to the bottom of an Ability chat card, which just subtracts 1 from the Uses Remaining for that ability.

11) Added a dialog for Attribute and Luck checks. This allows for modified rolls and advantage/disadvantage without having to remember a key-binding.

12) Vehicles as Actors: Added a Vehicle actor type so that Drones and Vehicles can be added to the battle map. These have the added functionality of being able to drag n drop actors “into” the vehicle sheet. There, you will see their name if you hover over them, and you can open their sheet from the vehicle sheet to make checks.

RETRO ROLE CAST FINALE!

The Retro Role Cast finale Ep 22 has aired!!

Trapped in the cells below the earth, the heroes must confront evils they had never imagined,  Kor builds a blanket fort,  Miro quits,  Vel beseeches his deity,  the GM gets a little too into the moment, and it is readily apparent that NONE of us know the proper terminology for insect bits.

Shawn and crew have much more in store for the future – new GM’s, new systems and new players in a series of one shots scheduled for this summer – stay tuned and be sure to check out the photos on their website too!

High Priest Wez at DM Tales returns with two schweeet videos about Indie RPGs you ought to check out – including LFG! Appreciate all the time that went into making these Wez !! :DD

  1. Nice video. Fun ideas – and very visual and engaging. I have Dragonmeet coming up on the 2nd December, and as you know I will be showcasing ToA. Would it be possible to get hold of some Bones dice and a deck of cards for my demo? If not, I can always mark up some blank dice (if I know the facings) and print some cards and put them on some card backing and cut them out for the game I’ll run.

A poster or similar I can put on a stand would also be good. I’d like the thing to be as visual as possible. Some Pickpocket Press fliers/business cards would also be useful for the table. However, if you have a design I can print that too. I will also be running at two cons next year (Contingency in January and UK Games Expo in June). Would love to have some materials to ensure I’m the best ‘pusher’ I can be for the system… 🙂

Also, we are dealing with COVID in my game group and holiday season, but reviews of the rules etc. will be coming to you as soon as we can get the playtests in. Practically everyone has completed their read-through and I am collating feedback now on that.
